I had to attend a DWI screening at a drug and alcohol center for an evaluation ordered by the DMV of NY to get my license back, I told them the truth that I hadn’t had a drink in more than a year or done drugs in over 2 years they charged me $200 bucks then told me after 15 minutes of yes and no questions that I needed at 12 week program. That sounds sketchy to me!!! it seems like they just want your money Read more

Friends of mine have an adult child who has already been through short term drug and alcohol rehab (2 weeks to 30 days) treatments, only to relapse. He needs longer term treatment to address the psychological problems associated with addiction; but like millions of other Americans he has no insurance.
Is anyone aware of any long term treatment centers that may help him? Read more

It’s called Drug and Alcohol treatment, or rehab.
I have a database of centres in the UK if you’re interested. Prices tend to be higher than in the US, but they vary enormously. The Priory (a group of several centres) is probably the most well-known, but also the most expensive. Email me if you need details of anywhere. Read more

I am not sure anyone has ever done a study on this, at least that I know of. Hopefully it’s high, bottom line if a person truely wants to stop drugs and or alcohol they will and a treatment center can give them the tools. Read more

My mother is an alcoholic and drug user. She needs to be committed to a treatment center but she will not go. Last week she slit her wrists and went to the emergency room (50 stitches) but they let her go. I did not know until afterward that she had done this. How can I have her committed if she won’t go on her own? If she attemps suicide again, can I have her committed? Thanks. Read more
